Summer Camp at Warehouse421 - Creativity, Education & Fun for Everyone

Four week program to include a diverse range of activities and workshops exploring art & design, music & dance, lifestyle, board games and film, for adults and children from 16 July to 10 August

 

Warehouse421 invites people of all ages to take part in its inaugural Summer Camp at Warehouse421 from 16 July to 10 August. This four-week program, tailored for children, young people, adults and families, offers a wide range of interactive workshops and events spanning art & design, music & dance, lifestyle, board games and film.

The Summer Camp will be held daily, except for Mondays and Fridays, at the gallery spaces of Warehouse421 and the diverse program will offer more than 50 workshops and activities to suit all ages and interests. Over the four-week period there will be 19 creative activity sessions for kids held each morning. Summer Camp at Warehouse421 will also offer more than 30 activities for teens and adults focusing on the areas of art & design, lifestyle, film, music and dance.

Commenting on the launch, Shamma Al Mheiri, of Warehouse421 said: “Throughout the year we are delighted to welcome members of the public to take part in our public programs. The launch of Summer Camp at Warehouse421 offers a vibrant, culturally rich and creative platform for the community to engage via a variety of creative and lifestyle driven activities. We want to provide an outlet that allows for residents to connect in a fun and different way throughout the summer months. With four weeks of dedicated activities for children, teens and adults, this program is designed to be accessible to all and we welcome everyone to join us, whether you’re a regular at Warehouse421 or a newcomer.”

Each day at Summer Camp has been divided into three timeslots catering to specific age groups:

Creative Morning for Children (ages 5- 12 years), 10:00 – 12:00

The selection of daily art and design workshops run by thejamjar will provide children with a fun and educational morning activity designed to spark their curiosity, expand their awareness of art and help to develop their creative skills. The creative workshops are designed to explore different themes, such as the traditions and natural environment of the UAE, and will allow the children to discover new modes of expression including henna, photograms and calligraphy.

Active Afternoons (ages 13+), 15:00 – 18:00

Each afternoon, teenagers of ages 13+, adults and families are invited to take part in a diverse range of workshops covering art & design, lifestyle and dance. Activities over the four weeks include educational workshops, a range of creative activities exploring painting, ceramics screen printing and design, table decorating tutorials with Dinner Club by No.57, and perfume making workshops.

Cultural Evenings (ages 16+), 19:00 – 22:00

A selection of evening sessions catering to adults of ages 16 and above will cover a wide variety of themes and include board game nights, yoga classes, creative workshops, and film screenings curated in collaboration with Hind Mezaina, artist, writer and Alumni, the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship.  

All sessions are open to the public with an admission fee applicable for select activities, and require prior registration which will open on 20th June 2017.
